FASHION - IT'S A MATTER OF LIFE OR DEATH

SOME PEOPLE TAKE FASHION TOO SERIOUS. QUITE OFTEN THOSE PEOPLE LIVE IN WHOREDITCH, DRESS LIKE THEY WERE NINE AND THINK THAT QUEUEING FOR A FASHION SHOW IS A GOOD WAY TO SPEND HALF A LIFE TIME. BUT IT NOW TRANSPIRES THAT SOME OF THEM ALSO LIVES IN GREENLAND.

(I'VE JUST REALISED I'M WRITING IN CAPITALS. I'LL CHANGE THAT AFTER THIS SENTENCE BUT I'LL LEAVE THE TOP PARAGRAPH THE WAY IT IS - IN TRIBUTE TO THE LOVELY KANYE WEST...)

To recap. During LFW, Danish designer Peter Jensen showed a mediocre collection, as always, which was inspired by his auntie who lived on Greenland in the 60's and ran a chip shop and a cab service (You can't make that up...). He used the classic Greenlandic Kamik boot as inspiration, which could be seen as homage to their national dress. But oh no, part of the 55,000 Greenlanders saw that as offensive and staged a protest last week, well over a month after LFW. According to Jensen, he also received a death threat!

Jensen said of his boots: "The collection and the boots were made out of pure love and meant as a celebration from the trip which we went on in November. That I am now getting death threats is really taking this thing out of proportion."

We agree Pete, but perhaps they're pissed off because you're Danish and Denmark colonised Greenland up till 1979. Or maybe they just thought the boots were really ugly...
